The authentic American burgerss
It is said that not everything that glitters is gold and in the same way not everything they sell us like hamburgers are really American. Big Al's It arises from the experience of Alan, an American who moved to Barcelona more than 16 years ago and found here everything he was looking for, except for somewhere that served American dishes as they are really eaten in his country. Missing the food of his youth and tired of searching and trying different places without finding an option that was not prepared with frozen ingredients, that had good flavor and size, he decided to solve it by opening his own restaurant.
This is how Big Al's emerged with its first restaurant in Sitges. After starting with a small restaurant, they now have three branches: one in Sitges located in an old wine cellar from the 60's with capacity for more than 120 people; that of Barcelona in the Carrer de Còrsega 178 which is a smaller version of the one in Sitges but with the same 100% American touch and the new and amazing one from Vilanova I la Geltrú.
Our first piece of advice before visiting Big Al's is to arrive very hungry. All the dishes, in addition to being delicious, are super large. The small size is enough to leave you satisfied and the large size is for champions. The options are many and when we saw them, our mouths were watering! We recommend you start with the pulled pork nachos (homemade nachos, pulled pork, 3 cheeses, jalapeños and house barbecue sauce).
Afterwards, obviously you have to try a hamburger. The Patty Melt is Big Al's version of the best burger in the United States and we have no doubt why they call it the best of the best (double meat, double cheese, caramelized onion, mustard on grilled rye bread). All the ingredients and sauces are prepared directly in the restaurant, they do not use anything pre-made or frozen and that definitely shows in the final flavor. You cannot miss trying the craft beers. They offer between 8-12 options and change every week, so there will always be something new to try. The Big Sissy is prepared by them and is always a good option or they also have red and black beer if you are feeling like something a little less common.
If you like risks you can join the Big Al's challenge. It consists of eating a Widowmaker (6 meat cakes, cheese, bacon, pulled pork, lettuce, tomato, crispy onion, mayonnaise sauce, 2X potatoes). If you finish it in less than 30 minutes you can be on the restaurant's wall of fame, what an honor! They also have a burger of the month. Soon you will be able to request all the burgers in your vegetarian option. To finish and if you still have space, the brownie is spectacular and perfect to share.
